BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is still closely monitoring Tropical Storm Isaias as the path of the strong tropical storm has moved slightly east of the Space Coast, according to the latest update.
As of 5 p.m., the center of the system is located just off the Space Coast near the southern portion of Brevard County. It is expected to move through the Space Coast over the next few hours carrying max sustained winds of 70 mph, while moving to North-Northwest at 9 mph
Storm surge forecasts have dropped slightly for Brevard County to 1-3 feet.
Rainfall amounts in Brevard County dropped to 1-3 inches with some areas in Brevard receiving as much as 4 inches of rain.
As of 5 p.m., peak wind gusts in Brevard County have been reported in the following areas:
– Barefoot Bay – 50 mph
– Cape Canaveral – 44 mph
– Cocoa Beach – 40 mph
– Melbourne – 40 mph
Experts at the National Hurricane Center are forecasting Isaias to impact northern part of South Carolina and southern portion of North Carolina Monday night as a strong tropical storm when it reaches the area.
