Tropical Wave Near Cabo Verde Islands Likely to Develop Into Tropical Depression This Week

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A tropical wave near the Cabo Verde Islands is forecasted by the National Hurricane Center to become a low-pressure tropical system later this week as it prepares to interact with another disturbance in the area.

Currently located around a few hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, the disturbance is moving to the west at 15-20 mph and has a 70-percent chance to develop into a stronger tropical system in the next five days.

Another tropical wave the National Hurricane Center is monitoring is near the Windward Islands as the system of disorganized showers and thunderstorms begins to enter the Caribbean Sea.

The tropical wave has a 50-percent chance at further development in the next five days.
