BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Pet Posse is a not-for-profit organization that supports the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Care Center and other animal rescue partners throughout Brevard County.
The Sheriff’s Pet Posse assists rescue partners and adoption centers in Brevard County to meet their immediate, operational needs, and also helps in the effort to maintain the status of a “No Kill” community.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey had a vision for the Sheriff’s Pet Posse that included both care for the animals as well as comprehensive education and enrichment programs for homeless animals, animal care staff and the general public.
Daily care and medical treatment of animals, including food, spay/neuter, medications, wellness, vaccinations, and facility improvements are supported through the Sheriff’s Pet Posse, as well as specialized programs for both the animals and staff.
These specialized enrichment programs focus on behavior, stress management, and obedience training as well as everyday care for pets.
Funding from the Sheriff’s Pet Posse has made it possible to create new and innovative programs in Brevard County to help increase the adoption of homeless animals right here in our own backyard.
Major obstacles that families have when looking to adopt a new pet are the costs associated with the adoption, the initial medical expense of the examination, and any spay or neutering that needs to be done.

The Pet Posse implemented new initiatives that make sure any qualified, loving family can adopt a homeless pet by covering the costs associated with the adoption fee.
Through programs like, “Kittens to Go” and “Operation Take Me Home with You,” new adoption families received a new crate, 30-day supply of food, a new collar and leash, as well as a new toy to help make the transition into a forever home as easy as possible.
In addition, newly adopted pets also receive a microchip, all shots, and a free spay or neuter. These are life-saving programs that make it easy for the residents of Brevard County to do their part in helping Brevard County stay a humane, “No-Kill” community.
The Sheriff’s Pet Posse has also made it possible to fund upgrades that include new gates for the Animal Care Center on West Eau Gallie Boulevard.
“These incredible care and enrichment programs are made possible through the Pet Posse and the generous donations of our community that supports our efforts to provide a second chance at a loving home and family,” said Sheriff Ivey.
