BREVARD COUNTY •  COCOA, FLORIDA – After careful deliberation, in consultation with the Brevard Department of Health, Brevard Public School Superintendent Mark Mullins has made the difficult, but proactive decision to close Enterprise Elementary’s campus to students for three days as a result of expanded cases of COVID-19 and to prevent further spread of the virus.

The closure of the school, located at 7000 Enterprise Road in Cocoa, will take place immediately.

All students currently participating in brick and mortar instruction will be moved to eLearning from home or paper/pencil packets. Families are being notified of the closure this evening and should NOT have their child attend school for the remainder of the week.

The closure affects all school programming. There will be no bus service or before- and after- school care tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 24th) through Friday (Sept. 25th).

The district will be providing continuity of feeding for students during the closure.

Daily meal packets consisting of one breakfast and one lunch per student can be picked up in the car loop between 10 a.m. – 12:00 PM, beginning tomorrow, Thursday, September 24th through Friday, September 25th.

Essential staff including office, custodial, cafeteria, and aftercare employees will report to work tomorrow and on Friday. The instructional staff has been directed to conduct remote instruction from home and to not return to school until Monday.

During the closure, a custodial team with support from the Office of Environmental Health and Safety will be conducting a deep cleaning and disinfecting of the school.

School and district staff will continue to monitor the situation and will convene on Sunday afternoon to determine if a longer closure period is necessary, but as of right now, the school is planning to return to normal operations on Monday, September 28th.

The DOH has notified all families of children who were in close contact with individuals confirmed positive and have requested they quarantine for 14 days.

Students/families who DID NOT receive a letter from the DOH were NOT found to have close interaction with individuals confirmed positive and therefore do not need to quarantine.

Families and staff are being asked to continue to conduct daily temperature scans and monitor their health for any signs of potential illness.
