BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Spoofing and scams abound in Brevard County – and the leading community healthcare system and their customers are among those being targeted.
Health First recently learned that a very small number of our Health First Health Plans members have been receiving phone calls from a number – 321-434-5665 – claiming to be the Health Plan’s customer service number.
During these calls, the caller asks the member for their date of birth and member ID number. When provided, the caller hangs up.
These calls have been spoofed and ARE NOT coming from the Health Plan. Our customer service department DOES NOT ask for member ID numbers when we are calling you.
Health First members are encouraged, should they receive a call claiming to be from the Health Plan, to feel empowered to not answer any questions they feel uncomfortable about.
Members can opt to end the call and call the number listed on the back of their Health Plan ID card to ensure they are legitimately speaking with one of our customer service representatives.
Health First has alerted the authorities and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). We will not tolerate this fraud and this violation of our customers’ privacy. We will work with authorities to investigate this and work to prevent this in the future.
There have been other scams recently reported in the news, affecting the Titusville area and other healthcare facilities not affiliated with Health First.
If you have further questions or concerns, please reach out to the customer service number on the back of your Health Plan card, or 1-800-716-7737.
Health First is grateful for the opportunity to serve Brevard’s healthcare needs. We will continue to work to care for you and protect your private information.
