Vehicle Burglary up 35% in the past several weeks

Melbourne has experienced an over 35% increase in vehicle burglaries, throughout the city, in the past several weeks. The majority of the targeted vehicles have been unlocked, with property inside – sometimes in plain view. To keep our residents safe, the Melbourne Police Department has developed a multi-tiered crime prevention strategy using social media and other targeted approaches to address the influx of this criminal activity.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne has experienced an over 35 percent increase in vehicle burglaries, throughout the city, in the past several weeks.

The majority of the targeted vehicles have been unlocked, with property inside – sometimes in plain view.

To keep our residents safe, the Melbourne Police Department has developed a multi-tiered crime prevention strategy using social media and other targeted approaches to address the influx of this criminal activity.

The Melbourne Police do this by reminding residents of the simple steps they can take each day to prevent crime.

Additionally, Melbourne Police has increased patrols in the high-impact areas.
