OBITUARY: Businessman and Philanthropist Arthur Peter Vouthouris, 88, Passed Away August 17 in Palm Bay

As a businessman, Arthur was truly a self-made man and an American success story

The high point of Arthur’s distinguished public service career was flying his prized Cardinal 170 to deliver food relief during disasters

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Arthur Peter Vouthouris, 88, passed away August 17, 2020, in Palm Bay, Florida.

Arthur was born on July 17, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey and was a beloved husband, father, businessman, entrepreneur, and public servant. He lived in Newark and Raritan, New Jersey for 40 years, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for 25 years and Spring Hill, Florida for the last 23 years of his life.

Upon graduation from Central High School, he attended Newark College of Engineering. As a businessman, Arthur was truly a self-made man and an American success story. After leaving Mancrete Concrete Pipe Co where he was Vice President of Sales in New Jersey, Arthur founded and operated VoCon Trucking Company until retiring to Florida in 1997.

Arthur led an active, fulfilling and interesting life that included supporting his children in quarter midget racing, stock car racing, boating, piloting his own plane, and competing with his Corvette club where his Monterey Lady won many trophies. He was also a keen sports fan and loved his Tampa Bay Rays.

The high point of Arthur’s distinguished public service career was flying his prized Cardinal 170 to deliver food relief during disasters.

He also gave generously to charities, supporting our military, Boys Club, Boy Scouts of America and his Church, St Frances Xavier Cabrini, where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

He loved his family with every inch of his soul and showed them, by example, how to live life to the fullest each day.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Emma Rose Capaccio Vouthouris; his beloved wife, Regina Marie; his son, Peter Vouthouris; his stepson-in-law, Charles Terry; and his step-grandson, Micheil Shea Wiegand.

He is survived by his daughters Camille (Bob) Wiegand and Cynthia (David) Reed; stepdaughter Regina “Dolly” Terry, sister Diana (Richard) Denton; brother Louis (Monique) Vouthouris; nephews Richard Denton, Peter Denton, and Paul (Danielle) Denton, nieces Jaclyn Vouthouris and Noelle Vouthouris; and step-grandchildren Monica Lin (Neil) Pratt, Dr. Chas (Trish) Terry, and Linda Jeanne Terry. He is also survived by six step-great-grandchildren, Julian Wiegand, Quinn Terry, Andrea Tocher, Micheil P. Wiegand, Nick Terry, and Anabel Wiegand.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Memorial Service will be held at a future time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
