Space Coast Tourism Capital Facilities Committee Allocates $6.7 Million to Diverse Array of Projects

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In its monthly meeting of the Space Coast Tourism Development Council’s Capital Facilities Committee, the nine-member volunteer board allocated more than $6.7 million for 2020-2021 to a diverse array of local projects to benefit tourism and the quality of life for Brevardians.

“I am very pleased with the good work that the committee and staff has done to fund and help make these important projects possible,” said Capital Facilities Committee Chair Giles Malone.

“The projects that will receive financial assistance represent many geographic areas of the county, which the board feels is important to improve many areas across the Space Coast.”

The projects listed below will receive the following funds as the projects are completed:

■ Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, $1.764 million
■ Palm Bay Campground & Nature Center, $1.7 million
■ Veteran’s Memorial Park in Merritt Island, $1.27 million
■ Brevard Zoo Aquarium project at Port Canaveral, $1.25 million beginning in 2023
■ Viera Astroturf fields at Viera Regional Park Debt Service, $570,389
■ Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, $492,075
■ Cocoa Village Playhouse in Cocoa Village, $250,000
■ Police Hall of Fame in Titusville $714,583
