Surfer on Melbourne Beach Hospitalized After Presumptive Shark Bite

A 25-year-old surfer was reportedly bitten by a possible shark this morning near South Melbourne Beach, according to Brevard Fire Rescue.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 25-year-old surfer was reportedly bitten by a possible shark this morning near South Melbourne Beach, according to Brevard Fire Rescue.

Authorities say the incident happened around 8:15 a.m.

The surfer was able to walk over to the nearby fire station where he was taken to Holmes Regional.

Spokesperson with BCFR says the man’s injury to his left arm showed ‘significant bleeding’.
