BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A city phone number was unlawfully used to solicit personal information and money by members of a fraudulent scamming operation via a phone number caller ID spoofing application.

The City of Titusville does not call and ask anyone for personal information or take payments over the phone.

Customers may make payments in person, online or over an Interactive Voice Response payment system.

Phone number spoofing occurs when someone disguises their real phone number by hiding behind someone else’s phone number, which displays on the phone screen, to make calls.

These calls are most likely scam calls. Scammers spoof phone numbers that are recognized as local or similar to phone numbers that are used often by the victim.
