Florida Highway Patrol Investigating Hit-and-Run Crash that Killed 37-Year-Old Cocoa Woman on U.S. 1 in Mims

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers arrived on the scene of an incident involving a deceased body at 10:15 am. Saturday morning. According to Lt. Kim Montes, Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer, troopers received a call from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office about a deceased female located in a ditch on U.S. Highway 1 and Gloria Avenue in Mims.

THE IDENTITY OF THE 37-YEAR-OLD VICTIM HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED, FHP SEEKING SUSPECTED HIT-AND-RUN VEHICLE

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers arrived on the scene of an incident involving a deceased body at 10:15 am. Saturday morning.

According to Lt. Kim Montes, Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer, troopers received a call from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office about a dead woman located in a ditch on U.S. Highway 1 and Gloria Avenue in Mims.

“Preliminary information suggests that this may involve a hit and run crash,” said Lt. Montes.

Lt. Montes said an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 1 as a 37-year-old Cocoa woman was walking northbound on the edge of the northbound lane.

The front or front right of the vehicle struck the back of the victim and after the impact, the victim was thrown into a ditch as the yet-to-be-identified suspect vehicle fled the scene.

The victim was located later in the morning and Troopers believe the crash occurred overnight after 12:15 a.m.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213. This crash remains under investigation.
