Melbourne Police Department Respond to Shooting at City Limits Sports Bar

The Melbourne Police Department Dispatch Center began receiving a series of emergency phone calls just after midnight on Sunday October, 18th.

MELBOURNE • BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department Dispatch Center began receiving a series of emergency phone calls just after midnight on Sunday October, 18th.

According to Melbourne Police Commander Marc Claycomb, the calls were stemming from an incident originating at the City Limits Sports Bar and Grill (4851 Dairy Road).

The initial call was received at approximately 12:09 AM and the caller reported a disturbance, with gunshots fired, in the parking lot of the business.

Another caller advised someone was shot and left in a vehicle.

A short time later, a third call indicated there was a single vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Dairy Road and New Haven Avenue (US Highway 192).

Officers were dispatched to both the City Limits Bar and Grill and the location of the vehicle crash.

They soon discovered the occupants of the vehicle involved in the crash included the victim of the shooting [Tivon Johnson of Melbourne Florida].

Mr. Johnson was transported to a local hospital along with the driver of the vehicle who suffered injuries during the crash.

Both individuals continue to receive medical treatment; however, they are expected to recover from their injuries.

Our Detectives responded to assist in the investigation. They discovered Mr. Johnson was a patron of City Limits and during the course of the night became agitated with other people at the business.

Mr. Johnson initiated a disturbance inside which resulted in several people exiting to the parking lot where he and another
male began fighting.

The other male ultimately brandished a firearm and began shooting at Mr. Johnson, striking him multiple times.

The shooter fled the scene prior to our arrival. Mr. Johnson fled in a vehicle, driven by Randolph Johnson of Palm Bay.

The driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed at the intersection of Dairy Road and New Haven Avenue.
