UCF Knights Trio Named to ASUN All-Decade Team, Recognizing Most Valuable Players

Dee Brown, Matt Fox, and Justin Pope represent UCF among the 31 honorees

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCF Knights) – The ASUN Conference announced the Baseball 2001-10 All-Decade Team as 31 student-athletes were named to the list across 13 programs.

UCF landed three selections to the team, Dee Brown (2002-05), Matt Fox (2002-04), and Justin Pope (1999-2001). During the decade, the Knights picked up two ASUN Championship titles, tied for the second-most in the conference.

2001-10 Baseball All-Decade Team (listed in alphabetical order by last name)

Dee Brown (2002-05)
– The 2002 ASUN Freshman of the Year, Brown earned three First Team All-Conference honors during his career (2002, 2004-05). The former UCF outfielder ranks fourth in RBI (229), 10th in hits (298), 16th in at-bats (866) and tied 17th in total bases (444) in the conference career record book. He led UCF to the 2002 ASUN Championship and Regular Season titles in 2002 and 2004.

Matt Fox (2002-04)
– Fox was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Year in 2004 after collecting 125 strikeouts in 111.2 innings pitched recording 14 wins and a 1.85 ERA. He was a member of the UCF NCAA Tournament and conference Regular Season title teams in 2002 and 2004 while the Knights also won the ASUN Championship in 2002.

Justin Pope (1999-2001)
– The 2001 Player of the Year, Pope earned a pair of All-Conference nods and led UCF to the 2000 and 2001 NCAA Regional Finals. The Knights won the Regular Season title both years and added an ASUN Championship crown in 2001. On the ASUN career lists, the five-time Pitcher of the Week ranks fourth in wins (32), seventh in strikeouts (335), and 19th in games started (49).

To be named to the All-Decade Team, an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athletes.

Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference, or multiple superlative awards.

Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Tournament MVP/Freshman/Defensive Player/Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
