What Is Happening to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

This past NFL offseason was an interesting one. By far, the highest-profile free agent who was on the move was Tom Brady. Tom Brady is arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game of football.

He won 6 Super Bowls in the span of 19 seasons with the New England Patriots. Spending 20 years in a single place, Tom Brady was poised to become a free agent for the first time.

In one of the most hotly-anticipated moves in NFL free agency history, Tom Brady decided to take his talents to the state of Florida. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two years.

Of course, there are lots of people who are looking to try to win that elusive Super Bowl. Given that Tom Brady has already won 6 Super Bowl titles, pairing with him is not exactly a bad idea.

Therefore, Rob Gronkowski decided to come out of retirement for one last ride with his quarterback. Next, Leonard Fournette also signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After this, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were also able to snatch controversial wide receiver Antonio Brown off of the free-agent market.

After serving his suspension, Antonio Brown has become an essential cog in the Tampa Bay offense.

Going into the season, many people were already crowning the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl champions. What has transpired this season is anything but.

While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are certainly a good team at 7 and 4, there are numerous sports picks that have been wrong. For example, many analysts had the Tampa Bay Bucs representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Instead, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been spanked by the New Orleans Saints twice, who are poised to represent the NFC as the number one seed despite their quarterback going down with multiple rib fractures and a pneumothorax.

Furthermore, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also recently got blasted by the Los Angeles Rams on national television. Therefore, there are lots of people who are wondering what has happened to this football team.

One of the biggest problems with this football team has to do with their aging quarterback. The system he is currently playing in under Bruce Arians is very different from the system he played in for 20 years under Bill Belichick.

The Bruce Arians offense makes its money with downfield shots. It should come as no surprise that Tom Brady has attempted the most passes of 20 or more yards downfield. That is how the offense under Bruce Arians is supposed to function.

Unfortunately, Tom Brady is not completing a high percentage of these passes. For this reason, the offense continues to languish.

Without a doubt, there is still a lot of football left to be played. Even though it is possible that Tampa Bay Buccaneers could get their act together, they have a long way to go.

It will be interesting to see what happens next with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
