HAWAII – Cocoa Beach native advanced to the round of 16 on Thursday after a late rally in the round of 32 moved Slater to the next round of the Billabong Pipe Masters in Hawaii.

Despite a slow start, Slater came into his own on one of the final waves before the round ended by scoring a 6.82

Slater’s two best scores totaled 12.80 but three out of his four waves amassed a score of at least 5.5 points.

Slater will now compete in the round of 16 in heat 4.
