Commander Bruce Barnett Retires After 30 Years of Service to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Recently, our agency wished a very happy retirement to longtime Brevard County Sheriff’s Office family member Commander Bruce Barnett.
Bruce has enjoyed an outstanding career with our agency and leaves behind a legacy of professionalism and valued public service.
Bruce was originally hired by then-Sheriff Jake Miller on November 6, 1990 and during his 30 years with the agency was assigned to many different units and positions to include Deputy, GCU Agent, Major Crimes Agent, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Major and Commander.
Throughout his career Bruce has always proven himself to be an outstanding asset to our agency and has served his community proudly. He has received hundreds of Letters of Commendations, Unit Citations, Merit and Commendable Service Bars during his exemplary career and dedicated service.
Bruce also served as a member of our agency’s SWAT team for many years. Prior to his years of service at BCSO, he served the citizens and community at the Winter Park Police Department.
Through Bruce’s professionalism, mentorship, and leadership many of our young Deputies have developed to become the future of our agency.
Bruce is fondly known for his great sense of humor and is a great friend to all who know him!! I first had a chance to work with Bruce when I was with FDLE and was also honored to serve with him as a member of our BCSO Command Team.
Bruce is an amazing law enforcement officer and his expertise will be greatly missed by our agency.
Please join me in congratulating Bruce for his incredible efforts and commitment to our agency and the citizens of Brevard County and also in wishing him an enjoyable, fun-filled and well-deserved retirement!
We wish Bruce the absolute best in this next chapter of his life and truly appreciate his service, dedication and commitment.
