Deadline is Friday for CARES Act-funded Mortgage/Rental Assistance in Brevard County

To date, Brevard County has obligated more than $6.9 million in federal CARES Act grant funds

The application period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, for CARES Act fund-related mortgage assistance, rental assistance and utility and security deposit assistance through Brevard County’s Housing and Human Services Department.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The application period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, for CARES Act fund-related mortgage assistance, rental assistance and utility and security deposit assistance through Brevard County’s Housing and Human Services Department.

To date, Brevard County’s Board of County Commissioners has obligated more than $6.9 million in federal CARES Act grant funds to assist those financially impacted as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Those eligible must be a resident of Brevard County; at or below 140 percent of area median income; and able to demonstrate assistance is required as a result of impacts from coronavirus.

Nearly 2,000 applications have been received. The average amount of assistance granted: $4,358.

Applications for assistance will be available online at these locations: www.brevardfl.gov/HumanServices/Announcements, and www.brevardfl.gov (look in the blue box at the top of the page for COVID-19 Financial Assistance Program) until 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020.

Paper application forms will also be available at Brevard County libraries until 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18.
