A 27-year-old Merritt Island man has died in fiery crash after lost control of his vehicle near Lucas Rd. and Date Ave.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 27-year-old Merritt Island man has died in fiery crash after he lost control of his vehicle near Lucas Rd. and Date Ave. in Merritt Island.

State troopers say the man traveling in his sedan vehicle on Lucas Rd. around 2:22 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, struck a tree, causing the vehicle to go up in flames.

The driver was pronounced dead at Holmes Regional early Saturday morning.

State troopers are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.
