BOCA RATON, FLORIDA (UCF Knights) – The UCF football team closed out the 2020 season at the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl, falling to 13th-ranked BYU by a score of 49-23 Tuesday evening at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton.

The Knights concluded the campaign with a record of 6-4, marking the winningest four-season span and winningest five-season span in program history, dating back to 2017 and 2016, respectively.

BYU (11-1) scored the first 21 points of the game and never looked back, leading 35-10 at halftime and 49-17 after three quarters of play.

Cougars quarterback Zach Wilson was 26-of-34 for 425 yards with three touchdowns through the air. He also ran for two scores on five rushes for 12 yards on the ground. Tyler Allgeier led the BYU ground attack with 19 rushes for 173 yards and a touchdown.

For UCF, quarterback Dillon Gabriel went 21-of-45 for 217 yards and threw two touchdown passes, one to Jaylon Robinson and one to Jacob Harris. Greg McCrae rushed 18 times for 77 yards and a score on the ground.

Jermaine McMillian led a depleted UCF defense with a career-high 11 total tackles, while Tatum Bethune had five tackles and a sack.

Tuesday marked the fifth consecutive season that the Knights have played in a bowl game, the first such stretch in program history.
