Zack Thomas Hinckley III of Rockledge Passes Away Peacefully December 6 at Age 78

Worked for Lockheed-Martin on Space Shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center

Zack Thomas Hinckley III, a long-time former resident of Rockledge, passed away peacefully at Brookdale University Park Senior Living facility on Saturday, December 6, 2020, at the age of 78.

Moved to Rockledge in 1968 where he worked at both the Cocoa and Melbourne campuses of Brevard Community College as a film and television technical director and teacher

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA – Zack Thomas Hinckley III, a long-time former resident of Rockledge, passed away peacefully at Brookdale University Park Senior Living facility on Saturday, December 6, 2020, at the age of 78.

He was born on March 1, 1942, to Sue and Zack Hinckley of Shreveport, LA.

Zack grew up in Shreveport, receiving his Bachelors degree in Film and Television from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1962, and his Masters degree from Syracuse University in 1966.

Shortly after his marriage to June Maddux, he began his professional life as a Lieutenant in the Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.

He moved to Rockledge in 1968 with June where he worked at both the Cocoa and Melbourne campuses of Brevard Community College as a film and television technical director and teacher.

On weekends, he moonlighted for Titusville High School, filming the games for the football team.

He later moved to his dream job with Lockheed-Martin as an instructor for the Space Shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center, in Florida. He served as a steadfast and loyal employee until his retirement in 2010.

A beloved member of the Church of Christ in Cocoa, Zack was active in the prison ministry program and led communion and fellowship for inmates at the Brevard County Correctional Facility for over 20 years.

He is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth Anne Hinckley, of Sierra Madre, California and Catherine Claire (Hinckley) Brooks, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; his three grandsons, Avery Andrew Brooks (20), Henry Thomas Brooks (18), and Emory Edward Brooks (15) and his son-in-law Trey Brooks.

Zack will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Shreveport, LA next to his Mother, Father and Sister.
