Father Tobin was active and engaged in the welfare of parishioners of all ages

Father Tobin began his service at St. James Cathedral in Orlando followed by St. Teresa Catholic Church, Titusville, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winter Haven, St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs, and as pastor of Church of Our Saviour, Cocoa Beach; and Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne.
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Reverend Edmund (Eamon) J. Tobin, Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, passed to the Lord on January 1, 2021.
Born May 21, 1947, in Dublin, Ireland, he attended St. Kieran’s College, Kilkenny, Ireland and was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood June 11, 1972, to serve in the Diocese of Orlando.
Father Tobin began his service at St. James Cathedral in Orlando followed by St. Teresa Catholic Church, Titusville, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winter Haven, St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs, and as pastor of Church of Our Saviour, Cocoa Beach; and Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne.
Father Tobin was active and engaged in the welfare of parishioners of all ages throughout his priesthood. He was an advocate for connecting the Gospels to everyday life, understanding the Sacraments of the Catholic Church, and to embracing an active prayer life.
He was a prolific writer and authored books, articles and commentaries on topics close to this heart including praying, forgiveness, the Sacraments, dealing with death, fear and guilt.
Father Tobin is survived by his brothers and sisters Mary (Morrissey), Paddy, Martin, Teresa (Byrne) and their families. He is also survived by his parish community of Ascension Catholic Church and School, the religious and clergy who have come to know him these many years.
Public Services will be held at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne. Visitation Monday, January 11, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, January 12 at 10 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed.
