Brevard County Grand Jury Issues Murder Indictments to Rockledge Man, Melbourne Beach Man for 2020 Slayings

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard Grand Jury has issued murder indictments for two men from Rockledge and Melbourne in two separate incidents that happened earlier last year.
In the first case, the jury indicted Willie Stewart from Rockledge, for the February 2020 murder of 29-year-old Tyler Chapple Jr.
Stewart had been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Tyler Chapple Jr. on the 600 block of Georgia Ave. in Rockledge on February 7, 2020.
Willie Stewartm 62, was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder w/Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon.
In the second case, 40-year-old Kevin Doswell was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder for the stabbing death of 43-year-old Michael Sumner Jr in Melbourne on March 7, 2020.
Doswell, from Melbourne Beach, was also indicted for Grand Theft Motor Vehicle, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting Without Violence. Doswell had been arrested in connection to the stabbing death of 43-year-old Michael Sumner Jr, whose body was found in a room the two shared at the River Palm Hotel in Melbourne on March 7, 2020.
The Grand Jury heard testimony The Brevard Medical Examiner, Melbourne Police crime scene investigator and detective before returning with the indictment.
Stewart and Doswell are being held on No Bond at the Brevard County Jail and no trial date has been set in either case.
