Eastern Florida State Women’s Basketball Cruise Past Miami Dade in Season Opener 84-47

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team used a huge third quarter to defeat Miami Dade College Saturday 84-47 in the team’s season opener at Titan Field House.

The Titans took the lead two minutes into the first quarter and never trailed again, leading by three after the first quarter and then eight at the half.

Sophomore Stephanie Torres led the attack with 22 of the team’s 37 points in the first half.

Eastern Florida State College came out on a 15-4 run in the first half of the third quarter and outscored Miami Dade 27-9 in the quarter. The defense then held the Sharks to nine points in the fourth quarter to pick up their first win of the season.

Four Titans finished the game in double digits with Torres finishing with the 22 points while teammate Anja Knoflach had 19 points and nine rebounds.

Zahria Jenkins had 11 points and six steals while Kaitlyn Sanders finished with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.

The women’s basketball team will host Palm Beach State College on Friday. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, fans will not be allowed at Titan Field House but fans can watch the game live on EFSC Titans YouTube page.
