Florida Tech Cross Country Star Nicole Clarke Voted to Sunshine State Conference All-Decade Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Sunshine State Conference released its Women’s Cross Country All-Decade Team for 2010-19, and former Florida Tech runner Nicole Clarke represents the Panthers as a second-team honoree.
In total, 14 individuals were selected to the SSC’s All-Decade Teams. Voting took place among the league’s administrators and women’s cross country coaches.
A four-year member of the Florida Tech cross country team from 2008 to 2011, Clarke is one of the more decorated runners in program history.
The Abingdon, Maryland native was tabbed the SSC Freshman of the Year in 2008 and earned three All-SSC selections, in 2008, 2010 and 2011. Additionally, she received two All-South Region awards in 2010 and 2011.
Clarke finished top-12 at all four of her appearances at the SSC Championship (2008 – 9th; 2009 – 12th; 2010 – 4th; 2011 – 3rd), on the way to earning SSC All-Championship team recognition in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
After taking third at the 2011 SSC Championship with a career-best 6K time of 21:56.60, Clarke went on to finish fourth at the NCAA South Regional and then 47th at the National Championship.
That same year, she ran a career-best 5K of 17:45.72 at the 2011 Charlotte Invitational.
Over her career, Clarke competed in 27 races and accumulated 16 top-10 finishes, including one victory and 10 top-5 results. In just 2011 alone, she racked up six top-10 finishes in eight races.
