Florida Tech Cross Country Team Kicks off Spring Season at Daytona Dual Against Embry-Riddle

Cross country teams faced off against Embry-Riddle in Panthers' first meet in 448 days

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech cross country teams opened up their spring seasons on Saturday at the Daytona Dual against Embry-Riddle.

This marked the first competition for the Panthers in 448 days.

The Eagles controlled the meet, taking the top spots in both races. Margaret Szymanski (24:51.00) and Peyton Anders (24:52.00) were the lone Panthers competing in the women’s race and finished ninth and 10th overall.

On the men’s side, Avery Cook earned 10th-place with a time of 28:22.00, followed by William Hibbard (29:37.00) in 15th and Alex Larrivee (30:15.00) in 17th. Matthew Riordan (30:32.00) and Reese Van Putten (30:47.00) placed 19th and 20th, respectively.

The Panthers return to action at the SSC Pre-Conference Meet hosted by Florida Southern on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Holloway Park in Lakeland. The meet is set to start at 10 a.m.
