BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech midfielder Mollie Kaplan has been named a preseason All-American by US Lacrosse Magazine.
Thirteen student-athletes from 11 schools were selected by the magazine as 2021 Division II Preseason All-Americans. Kaplan and Brenna Smith from Florida Southern are the two representatives from the Sunshine State Conference on the list.
Last season, Kaplan earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse after recording 18 goals, eight assists, 35 draw controls, 18 groundballs, and six caused turnovers.
She registered a point in all eight games in 2020, including season-highs with six goals, five groundballs, and five draw controls in Tech’s 17-10 victory over Young Harris.
The Boca Raton, Florida native currently ranks eighth all-time in program history with 119 career points with 92 goals and 27 assists. She helped lead the Panthers to a 6-2 record in 2020 and a spot in the final IWLCA national poll.
Now, a graduate student earning a Master’s of Business Administration, Kaplan is taking advantage of a waiver presented by the NCAA last spring for an extra year of eligibility after the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19.
