Temporary 4-Hour Maintenance Closures for Canaveral Lock Planned Through Friday

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The Canaveral Lock will be temporarily closed to navigation with 4-hour shutdowns on January 19-22.

Officials say the purpose of the closure is to have divers work on the cathodic protection system.

Timeframe for closures: 

6 a.m.- 8 a.m. open for lockages.
8 a.m.- 12. p.m. CLOSED for maintenance.
12 p.m.- 1 p.m. open for lockages.
1 p.m.-4 p.m. CLOSED for maintenance.
5 p.m.-9:30 p.m. open for lockages.

Officials said that if all goes well it may only require one or two days and advised mariners to adjust their navigation plans if needed.
