Titusville Man Dies in Vehicle Crash After Cocoa Man Runs Red Light, Police Say

A Titusville man was killed in a traffic crash late Wednesday evening that involved two vehicles at the intersection of  US-1 and Cheney Highway.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A Titusville man was killed in a traffic crash late Wednesday evening that involved two vehicles at the intersection of  US-1 and Cheney Highway.

The crash victim that died has been identified as 48-year-old Jonathan Edward Duff from Titusville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a gold 2006 Buick Lucerne, driven by Ronnie Dale Huggins Jr., 33, of Cocoa, drove through a red-light signal at a high rate of speed southbound South Washington Ave. at around 10:30 p.m..

Huggins, subsequently hit Jonathan Edward Duff, 48, of Titusville, who was driving a silver 2001 Ford Mustang, as he was attempting a left turn northbound on US-1 from Cheney Highway.

Duff was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Huggins was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Titusville Police say charges are pending against Huggins.

The crash remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department.
