All-Decade awards include every SSC Runner of the Year from 2011 to 2019

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Sunshine State Conference announced its Men’s Cross Country All-Decade Teams for 2010-19 and two former Florida Tech runners were among the list of honorees.

Moses Kirui represented the Panthers on the All-Decade first team while Chris Cacciapaglia earned second-team honors.

The 2010-19 SSC All-Decade awards include every SSC Runner of the Year from 2011 to 2019 and six athletes who were named Freshman of the Year during their careers. All-Decade voting took place among the league’s administrators and cross country coaches.

Moses Kirui (2011-12), First Team

Kirui was named the SSC Runner of the Year in 2011 after winning the conference championship in 25:46.6. He followed up his SSC crown with another win at the 2011 NCAA South Regional Championship 10K (32:00).

Kirui made it to the NCAA Championship in both 2011 and 2012, posting his best result of 76th during the 2012 race.

Kirui, a native of Eldoret Kenya, was a two-time All-SSC first-team selection and a two-time All-South Region honoree. He racked up nine top-10 finishes over his career, including six top-5 results.

Chris Cacciapaglia (2010-12), Second Team

Cacciapaglia received the SSC Runner of the Year award in 2012 after winning the SSC Championship that season with a time of 25:56.6.

He went on to take third at the 2012 NCAA South Region Championship with a career-best time in the 10K (32:01.7).

The Vashon, Washington native was named to the All-SSC first team in 2012 and earned two All-South Region selections in 2011 and 2012.

He posted seven top-10 finishes, including five top-5 results during his three years at Florida Tech.
