Eastern Florida State Men’s Golf Team Finish Second at Coastal Alabama Invitational

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team is in second place after the first day of the Coastal Alabama Invitational Monday on the azalea course at the Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama.
The Titans shot a 293 as a team and are behind leader Central Alabama who shot a 283.
Drew Lanier led the Titans, shooting a 1-under 71, and is tied for fifth overall while teammate John Houchin is tied for ninth after a 1-over 74. Matt Gauntlett is tied for 12th with a 75 and Ryan McMillan shot a 75 and is in 14th place. Pontus Torgner finished with a 79.
“A solid round by Drew and steady play by John, Matt, and Ryan. It was a scrappy day for the team,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said. “Perfect conditions for play, we just need to be more efficient on and around the greens.”
The Titans, who are ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA Division I poll, will play in the final round on Tuesday morning.
