BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College baseball pitcher Tyler Vogel is named the NJCAA Region VIII Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

Vogel pitched six shutout innings against Daytona State College last Wednesday, allowing three hits and striking out eight with one walk in a no-decision.

“It just gives me chills,” Vogel said of the honor. “I work hard to be as good as I can be and to hear that my work is being recognized around the state, it is so, so awesome. I can’t even describe it.”

The starter from Dunedin has allowed one run in two starts this season, allowing four hits and striking out 14 while walking just two in 11 innings.

“I worked hard in the offseason and the fall to improve and get ready for the season and really getting to chat and watch the other guys on this staff about how they do things has made me better,” Vogel said. “I have to give props to coach Arnold and my defense has been really good behind me.”

Vogel and the Titans will start a four-game road trip Wednesday at Daytona State College.
