Melbourne Police Discover 78-Year-Old Woman Submerged in Vehicle at Ballard Park Boat Ramps

Melbourne police detectives are currently investigating the death of a 78-year-old woman who was found submerged in a vehicle at Ballard Park Boat Ramps.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police detectives are currently investigating the death of a 78-year-old woman who was found submerged in a vehicle at Ballard Park Boat Ramps.

A blue Hyundai Accent was discovered Tuesday morning, at approximately 8:55 a.m., submerged underwater at the Ballard Park boat ramps.

The 78-year-old female was recovered from the vehicle and investigators estimate she entered the water sometime during the overnight hours.

According to Melbourne Police Lieutenant Shawn Eising, detectives continue to investigate the means by which the vehicle entered the water. However, no signs of foul play were observed during the initial processing of the scene.

Anyone observing the vehicle or capturing it on home surveillance cameras, within the Ballard Park Community, is encouraged to contact lead investigator Detective Mark Jennewein.
