UCF – The No. 18 UCF men’s tennis team heads south for their first road match of the season as they’ll face the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Knights are coming off a weekend in which they split decisions on their two matches. UCF had a shot at toppling the No. 11 Florida Gators in their season opener but ended up falling by a score of 5-2.

The Black and Gold hosted South Florida two days later, an early-season edition of the War On I-4. UCF won a tight doubles point before cruising to a 6-1 victory.

Sunday’s match will be the first time the Knights face Miami since they met on College MatchDay in 2019. After starting that season with a 1-5 record, the Knights rallied back to .500 prior to their match against Miami.

In front of nearly 2,000 fans, UCF took the doubles point and went on to collect a 4-0 sweep of the then 29th ranked Hurricanes. The match proved to be a turning point in the Black and Gold’s season.

UCF is Miami’s first opponent of the 2021 season. Just like the Knights, the Hurricanes finished strong in the shortened 2020 campaign, compiling a 10-2 record and winning their final six matches.

The Black and Gold posted similar numbers, going 10-3, and earned a victory in their final eight matches.
