BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Magnet High School girls basketball team will battle against American Heritage (Plantation) on Saturday for the Class 5A State Championship at RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. on Spectrum Sports.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
– Pirates (23-3) defeated St. Augustine 67-36 on Thursday in the semifinal
– Patriots (24-2) defeated Clearwater 66-29 on Thursday in the semifinal
Palm Bay Pirates are making their first-ever title game appearance, but boast one of the most explosive offenses in the state, surpassing the 70-point mark in 15 of their 26 games this season.
The dynamic duo of Mikyla Tolivert and Emma Risch combine for over 35 points/game.
They look to upset the American Heritage Patriots, who have won three straight state titles.
Behind twin sisters Taliyah and Tatyana Wyche (Florida signees), the Patriots could become just the sixth program in FHSAA history to win four consecutive championships.
