February is Black History Month

ABOVE VIDEO: Cocoa High School hosted a Black History Celebration on Thursday at Cocoa Riverfront Park, which is geared towards remembering the great contributors, icons and influencers within the black community in honor of Black History Month.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa High School is hosting a Black History Celebration on Thursday at Cocoa Riverfront Park which is geared towards remembering the great contributors, icons and influencers within the black community in honor of Black History Month.

The ceremony began at 9 a.m.

The Cocoa High School Chorus will be performing.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.

Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.
