BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College women’s golfer Delia Timpy has been selected as a finalist to play in the fourth Arnold Palmer Cup in June.
The sophomore will learn if she has been selected to play in the Palmer Cup on May 3 and if she does, she will go to Chicago to play for Team USA against a collegiate International team June 11-13 at Rich Harvest Farms.
“I am so honored, I did not think I would be recognized because there are so many talented golfers in college golf and I am just really honored to be nominated,” Timpy said.
“I got the email and when I read it, my sister (Olivia who is also on the golf team) and I just started jumping up and down.”
Timpy has finished in the top 10 in each of the two spring events she has played in and is one of the leaders of the women’s team.
“I have come a long way with my golf game, but I would have never thought in a million years that I would have the chance to be selected to play with a U.S. team,” Timpy said.
The Palmer Cup is a Ryder-Cup-style event that includes both men’s and women’s USA collegiate golfers against their counterparts from around the world.
The women’s golf team will be back on the course April 12-13, traveling to Georgia for the Dalton State Roadrunner Invitational.
