BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball player Natalia Beaumont and baseball pitcher Darien Smith are the Orlando Health Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 14.

Beaumont posted a double-double in all three games last week, averaging 19 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks.

The sophomore from Emu Heights, Australia helped the Titans to a 2-1 week with her best week of the season.

The forward has six double-doubles this season and is averaging 12.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in 12 games.

Smith struck out a career-high 14 hitters over 6 2/3 innings last Tuesday against Hagerstown Community College in Vero Beach.

The sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida has 66 strikeouts this season which leads the nation. The right-handed starter has struck out at least 10 in his past four starts.

The women’s basketball team, who is 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the Central Conference, is at Santa Fe Monday night and then travels to conference leader St. Petersburg on Wednesday before going back to Santa Fe on Saturday.

The baseball team will open the Southern Conference schedule Wednesday afternoon against Miami Dade College. The first pitch is at 4 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.
