Florida Tech Basketball’s Sesan Russell Named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week

Russell sits atop the SSC in scoring and minutes played

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After a brilliant performance leading Florida Tech men’s basketball to its first win of the season Wednesday, Sesan Russell has been named the Sunshine State Conference’s Player of the Week. This is Russell’s first time receiving the award.
The London, England product nearly recorded a triple-double Wednesday while guiding the Panthers a 73-60 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic at the Clemente Center.
Russell led all players in the game with 27 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and three steals, all were season-highs for the junior guard.
He scored his 27 points while making 10-16 from the field, 5-9 from three, and 2-2 at the free-throw line. Russell’s 10 made field goals and five makes from beyond the arc were also game-highs.
Through four games this spring, Russell sits atop the SSC in both scoring (21.5) and minutes played (38.0).
Additionally, he ranks second in the league in assists (5.3), third in three-point field goals made per game (2.8), fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.333), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (3.5), sixth in rebounding (6.8), eighth in free throw percentage (.786), eighth in steals (1.5), and 12th in field goal percentage (.427).
Russell and the men’s basketball team are back in action Wednesday as the Panthers host Florida Southern at 6 p.m. at the Clemente Center.
