BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed an Executive Order to cancel COVID-19 fines levied on Florida businesses and people in Florida by local government COVID-19 restrictions, citing  ‘unprecedented local government restrictions’.

As stated by the order, it called the fines over the past year”unprecedented local government restrictions”.

The order says any fines issued between March 1, 2020, and March 10, 2021, fines imposed by any political subdivision of Florida related to local government COVID-19 restrictions, are canceled.

The order continues on by saying the state can serve as a defense to the collection of those fines.

However, the order does not extend to assisted living facilities, health care providers or hospitals.

“This Executive Order does not create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the State, its departments or agencies, or its officers, employees, or agents,” the order states.
