Helen Schifter Believes Everyone Can Benefit from Traveling

After battling the coronavirus pandemic for the past year, the world is finally distributing vaccines across the globe and the population is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

With that in mind, there is one thing on everyone’s mind and that is their next big revenge getaway trip.

Whether it be across the state or around the world, people are desperate to get back to normalcy and regain their freedom.

With traveling comes a lot of life lessons and knowledge about other cultures. Helen Schifter believes traveling can benefit humans in many different ways and she strongly encourages people to go out into the world and explore.

Schifter is a former arbitrage trader on Wall Street, as well as a former editor at Hearst and Conde Nast. She graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and Amherst College and she currently lives in New York City.

She, along with the rest of us, struggled during the pandemic. With the chapter close to being in the rear view mirror, she wants everyone to reassess their priorities and be grateful for what the pandemic has taught them. In an interview with Thrive Global, she states, “The damage that this disaster has caused has led many of us to reassess what we prioritize in life.

Our health and that of our family members and friends should surely be paramount; and something we prize over all else. As we continue looking for the silver lining in all this, let’s at least reconsider how much we have to be grateful for.”

Before the pandemic struck, many of us took the idea of traveling for granted. Now, Helen Schifter hopes people will be more appreciative and will take away more life lessons from traveling to new and amazing places.

Aside from the scenic views and the delicious food, here are a few things wanderlusters can benefit from when booking their next trip:

Traveling Broadens Your Horizons

Traveling gives people the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and experiences cultures that are completely different from their own. It allows them to also connect with people of that culture and learn from them.

It Helps Educate You

Learning about a certain culture in school does not compare to actually witnessing the culture with your own eyes. Getting to know the people and hearing the stories first hand is an experience that is unmatched, and will really help people takeaway the most important lessons once their trip has ended.

Improves Communication Skills

Learning new languages and bettering your communication with strangers is a great skill to have. Tourists can become one with the people by picking up the locally common phrases and learn about the country by asking the townspeople questions.

Create Unforgettable Memories

From pictures to unique experiences, people will never forget the post pandemic vacations they partake in. After being cooped up for a year, it is time to live life to the fullest and enjoy as many places and meet as many people as you can.

The excitement surrounding the post pandemic travels is building up now that vaccines are being offered worldwide. Helen Schifter wants us to remember to enjoy the freedom and take all of the opportunities that are offered.

What we learned from the pandemic is that life is short, and we only have a certain amount of time to do the things that make us happy.

So instead of sitting on your couch and watching TV, go out into the world and soak in all of the experiences that come with it.
