Here’s what you need to know about the Selection Sunday show and how the bracket is populated as you prepare to fill in your own:

When is Selection Sunday 2021?

This year’s hour-long broadcast begins at 6 p.m. ET Sunday on your local CBS affiliate. (In the Indianapolis area, that is CBS4.) The show, a co-production between CBS and WarnerMedia’s Turner Sports, will also be available on the NCAA March Madness Live streaming app.

The Selection Sunday show and the right to broadcast the national semifinals and championship alternated between rnClub CBS and Turner Sports, meaning next year will be on WarnerMedia’s TBS.

What to look forward to this tourney: March Madness 2021 broadcasts will feature more announcing teams, fewer Blue Bloods

Who is the Selection Sunday on-air crew?

Once again, host Greg Gumbel will be holding the showdown as host, will be joined in the New York studio by analysts Clark Kellogg and Seth Davis. There will be remote shots from the various schools as teams learn their fates.

Who selects the NCAA tournament bracket?

The 68 teams who will participate are actually selected, seeded, and placed by the 10-member Division I Men’s Basketball Committee, which has been gathered in Indianapolis since Tuesday to debate over the teams. Committee chair Mitch Barnhart will appear by remote on the FoxSportsTv CBS show.

Representatives from a conference can’t be in the room while any team from that conference is being debated, nor can any school representative be there when talk turns to their school’s team. For example, Mike Bobinski, vice president and director of athletics at Purdue University, has to leave when seeding and placement of the Boilermakers come up.

When can I get my hands on a bracket? Just for fun, of course

Most tournament brackets do not begin until the first-round games kicking off at noon, March 19. However, there are some exceptions beginning with the First Four games that are played the day before.
