OBITUARY: Tommie Jeannine Leonard Passes Away at 90, Member of 4H Club in Palm Bay Florida for Many Years

Tommie Jeannine Leonard, 90, of Wareham, MA passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021. She was a member of the 4H Club in Palm Bay Florida for many years.

Tommie Jeannine Leonard, 90, of Wareham, MA passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Bayfront Health in Port Charlotte, while visiting her son Ronald and his wife Clare. She was the wife of the late Ronald M. Leonard, Sr.

Born April 16, 1930 in Ft. Worth, TX, she was the daughter of the late Sam Houston Morgan and Leeta (Permenter) Morgan.

Mrs. Leonard moved to Massachusetts after marrying her late husband Ronald. She worked for King’s Department Store in Brockton before becoming a cafeteria worker for Brockton Public Schools for many years. She was also President of the Brockton Cafeteria Workers Union.

Mrs. Leonard was a dedicated member and Deacon at the Community of Christ Church in multiple locations (Brockton, Avon, Palm Bay, Florida, Onset) for over 60 years. She was also a member of the 4H Club in Palm Bay Florida for many years.

Enjoyed and loved by her family, she is survived by seven of her eight children, Robert “Skipper” Langford of Wareham, Michael Langford and his wife Michelle of Wareham, MA Ronald Leonard, Jr. and his wife Clare of Punta Gorda, Richard Leonard and his wife Bonnie of Middleboro, MA Beverly Johnston and her husband Frank of Brockton, MA, Thomas Leonard and his wife Nancy of Marlboro, MA and Gloria Mitchell and her husband David of Wareham, MA; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Catherine Jansson.

Mrs. Leonard enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, and traveling. She was not your typical 90-year-old, she was lovingly known as the “Energizer Bunny” and the “Texas Tornado.”

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 3 – 5 PM. (Appropriate COVID-19 protocol will be observed including the use of face masks, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity.) Funeral services on Monday will be private. Interment will be in Mass. National Cemetery Bourne.
