One Person Found Dead After Deadly House Fire on Higgbee Street in Palm Bay

Palm Bay Fire Rescue and Palm Bay Police Department responded to a deadly house fire shortly after midnight on Thursday that claimed the life of an individual residing in a house located at 1443 Higgbee Street SE, according to officials.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Fire Rescue and Palm Bay Police Department responded to a deadly house fire shortly after midnight on Thursday that claimed the life of an individual residing in a house located at 1443 Higgbee Street SE, according to officials.

A person who resides in the room had returned to the residence to see smoke and flames coming from a bedroom, police say.

That person and another roommate exited the residence while calling 911.

When fire rescue officials arrived on-scene, they worked quickly to extinguish the blaze.

During a search of the residence, officials found a person dead in one of the bedrooms inside the house.

The identity of the person found dead is being withheld at this time until the family has been properly notified.

“All information leads investigators to believe the person found dead resided at the residence,” said Lt. Jeff Spears of the Palm Bay Police Department.

“At this time, it does not appear foul play is involved and the cause and origin of the fire is still being determined.”

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the State Fire Marshall and Palm Bay investigators.
