Space Coast Jr./Sr. High JROTC Among Nation’s First Cohorts of U.S. Space Force Program

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Space Coast Junior/Senior High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program is among 10 units selected from across the nation to be converted from U.S. Air Force to U.S. Space Force JROTC affiliation.

Considerations for unit selection included school proximity to Space bases, facilities, and centers of influence such as Space Command Headquarters, NASA, Missile Defense Agency, or current Senior Aerospace Instructor cadre with prior space operations experience.

Other JROTC programs selected included Arlington Career Center, Arlington VA; Del Norte High School, Albuquerque NM; Durango High School, Las Vegas NV; Falcon High School, Falcon CO;
Huntsville High School, Huntsville AL; Klein High School, Spring TX; Shadow Mountain High School, Phoenix AZ; The Academy for Academic Excellence, Apple Valley CA; andnWarren County High School, Warrenton NC.

Space Coast Junior/Senior High School is located in Port St. John and graduated its first class in 2006.

Since then, the school has offered AFJROTC, a specialized program for students interested in teaching, and a program for students who are interested in engineering and drafting.
