BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA (Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame) – When Teresa Brantley Moon was growing up in Satellite Beach, her parents often encouraged her to try other sports besides soccer. Moon would have nothing to do with it.

They also recommended she check out additional after-school activities, and although Moon tried band, she always returned to her first love.

“I always went back to my soccer,” said Moon.

Moon wasn’t just passionate for the game, she was also very good at it.

“I am really competitive, and soccer lets me be as competitive as I want,” said Moon.

“I love winning and hate losing. The players here are so good. Every day is a challenge and I love the challenge.”

Teresa Brantley Moon has excelled in the game since she began playing at age four. Her years playing for Satellite High School were golden for the school.“We were a real powerhouse team, always going to the state championships,” said Moon.

Her intensity for the game has served her well. The associate head coach for the women’s soccer team at Eastern Florida State College since 2013, Moon now feels very fortunate to be a peer with the coaches who taught her the game.

“We always won our districts and the regions and always got to the finals.”

Recruited by Florida Tech to play as a forward, Moon joined the Panthers in her freshman year, when the women’s team was just a year old. By the time she graduated, the team had matured considerably.

“It got better each year so that by the time I was a senior, we were 9-1 in the conference and made it to the regional playoffs,” she said.

“It was cool to be a part of that.”
