Melbourne Police are investigating a serious car crash involving pedestrians Thursday night in the area of Babcock Street and Silver Palm Avenue that involved a woman and child.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a serious car crash involving pedestrians Thursday night in the area of Babcock Street and Silver Palm Avenue that involved a woman and child.

According to the investigation, police arrived on scene around 6:45 p.m. that both a woman and a child sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and were taken to a nearby hospital.

The report shows the vehicle was traveling north on Babcock Street in the center turn lane and struck both pedestrians (woman and a child) who were occupying the center turn lane.

Police say it appears at this time that alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the crash.

The pedestrian has been identified by police as 32-year-old Tiffany C. Hernandez Rodriquez.

The driver involved in the crash has been identified as 52-year-old Christopher D. Coleman.
