INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (FOX NEWS) – The Baylor men’s basketball team picked up its first NCAA championship on Monday with a blowout victory against Gonzaga in Indianapolis, 86-70.
Jared Butler led Baylor with 22 points. He added seven assists and three rebounds as well. MaCio Teague scored 19 points and Davion Mitchell added 15 points in the victory. Matthew Mayer had 13 points off the bench.
Jalen Suggs led Gonzaga with 22 points. Corey Kispert and Drew Timme had 12 points each.
Gonzaga only shot 29.4% from three-point range. The team was 5-for-17 from deep and it proved to be one of the reasons for the blowout loss. Baylor was shooting 43.5% from long-range. Baylor also outrebounded Gonzaga, 38-22.
