BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 2021 “Dancing For the Space Coast,” a unique competition and fundraising event that benefits worthy organizations on the Space Coast, is back after a year hiatus due to COVID-19 on Saturday, June 5, and will be held at the former Stein Mart department store, located at 4100 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne.

Now in its sixth year, Dancing for the Space Coast selects three local charities that address the needs of children, crime prevention and the arts. In addition, 10 percent of the event’s proceeds go directly to support the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity, Inc., established to assist Brevard County law enforcement officers and firefighters in their time of need.

This exciting event will showcase featured dancers Susan Belcher, Wendy Fine, Irving Frier, Christina Granger, Marcus Ingeldsen, Jeanette Jarnes, George Panton, Cordell Rolle, Lori Shepherd and Kristine Zonka.

“The true stars of the event are the dancers who work diligently to raise money for these worthy causes,” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

BRAGGING RIGHTS ON THE LINE

Each celebrity dancer will be matched up with a professional dancer as they compete in a ballroom dance – and for bragging rights as the best dancer in Brevard.

On the evening of the competition, each dance pair will compete in a choreographed ballroom dance that will be scored by a panel of judges. During the show, couples will earn scores based on several technical skill factors, but the judges’ scores alone don’t decide the dancer’s final score.

Leading up to the actual performance, the dancers will have already scored 60 percent of their points through their fundraising endeavors to benefit needy charities.
