Eastern Florida State Women’s Tennis Team Heading to NJCAA National Championship Tourney

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – For the second time in team history, the Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team is heading to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament.

The Titans, who are No. 7 in the latest Oracle/ITA NJCAA women’s national poll, were given an at-large berth into the national tournament which begins May 1 at the Mesa Tennis Center in Mesa, Arizona.

Tsveti Trifonova comes into the national tournament ranked No. 10 in the country and plays at No. 1 single for the Titans. No. 1 doubles partner Carlota Gascon Martinez plays No. 2 singles and is No. 18 in the national rankings.

The duo is ranked ninth in the nation in doubles teams.

Kaya Greco, who lost in the Region VIII championship match at No. 3 singles last weekend is ranked 24th in the nation. Nicolle Romero, who plays No. 4 singles is ranked 48th overall heading into the national tournament.

The No. 2 doubles team of Greco and Ivett Castenada are ranked 12th in the national poll for doubles teams heading into the national tournament.

The Titans finished fifth in the national tournament in the 2018-19 season.
