Eastern Florida State Women’s Tennis Team Place Fourth in Region VIII Tournament in Altamonte Springs

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team finished the Region VIII Tournament in fourth place at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs Saturday.

Freshman Kayla Greco finished in second place at No. 3 singles, losing to Hillsborough Community College’s Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya in the final 6-2, 6-0. The second-place finish was just the third time that a Titan played in the championship match at the Region VIII Tournament.

The Titans finished behind the State College of Manatee by half a point for third place.

In a consolation singles match on Saturday, Tsveti Trifonova picked up a win at No. 1 singles 8-5, and Ivett Castenada picked up a win at No. 6 singles, easily winning 8-2.

The No. 2 doubles team of Greco and Castenada picked up a win in the consolation round, winning 8-5.

The women’s tennis team will host Temple University Monday at 11 a.m. for the final regular-season match of the season.
